Fear of failure is probably one of the most consistent traits that all humans have in common. It’s also completely, ridiculously false and unnecessary.
There’s a big difference between “failing” and being “a failure.” We’re talking about that difference in this week’s #ClarityGem …

THIS WEEK, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW:
APPLY IT TO YOUR OWN LIFE:
Before we even comment on failure, we’re going to let two smart people do the talking. First is Chris Hardwick, who said:
“No human ever became interesting by not failing. The more you fail and recover and improve, the better you are as a person. Ever meet someone who’s always had everything work out for them with zero struggle? They usually have the depth of a puddle. Or they don’t exist.”
And then there’s JK Rowling, who was incredibly right when she said:
“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.”
Successful people are just the ones who understand that failing isn’t personal … it’s part of life. There is NO WAY to live an interesting, enriching, growth-filled experience without trying things and sometimes failing. The people who deeply get this do just fine in life.
Where many people go wrong is in assuming that failing means something deep and important about who they are as a human being. When those people fail they think, “Well, this must mean I am a failure.” And so, they become so cautious that they rarely take risks and rarely fail in the future … because they’re no longer trying much that’s new, interesting, or different.
That’s why the successful person will fail more often … they don’t take it personally, and they’re willing to undergo risk in the name of expansion and living an exceptional life.
The successful person failed MORE than any of the “failures” ever did. #ClarityGems

WHAT #CLARITYGEMS ARE ALL ABOUT:
Sometimes it’s just better to avoid long blog posts and cut straight to the point!
Think of #ClarityGems as your weekly shake of the good ‘ole Magic 8 Ball … you never know what might bubble up and how it might be exactly what you need to hear today.
And instead of just a beautiful, inspirational, and shareable image (which is a nice start), we’re giving you some quick thoughts about how to interpret it … because inspiration without action is pretty, but kind of anti-climatic.
Tweet it, share it on Instagram, or forward it along to someone who needs to hear it today … and tag us (@ClarityonFire) to let us know how this Gem is inspiring you!
Much Love,
Kristen (+ Rachel)

WE’RE DOING A NEW {AND FREE!} LIVE HANGOUT … YOU’RE GONNA LOVE IT
Over the past year, we’ve helped a lot of people land their dream jobs. Some of our favorite stories involve one client getting hired by Google, another having a job created specifically for her on another continent, and yet another landing a dream gig that came with a 45% salary increase.
And though we think our clients (sharp, savvy people that they are) deserve most of the credit, our experience with them has taught us a LOT about what’s possible. It’s one thing to find a job you love, but it’s quite another to find a job you love and are REALLY excited about … that’s just as excited and eager to have you as you are to be there.
So on Tuesday, September 15 (at 12pm Eastern) you should definitely join us for a FREE live hangout about exactly that: “How to find a job you LOVE … that loves you back.”
We’re going to be sharing an overview of the 4 biggest job search strategies that have helped our clients (people who were stuck, frustrated, overwhelmed and had NO idea what they wanted to do) find a job they loved … that loved them right back!
If you can’t join live, no worries! Register anyway and you’ll be on the list to receive a recording after the hangout is over.
Do you know someone who’s been trying (and maybe failing) to find a job they love? Invite them to join by forwarding this link … we’d love to share this with as many people as need to hear it!
