Don’t feel bad if you’ve looked to other people to tell you what to do or where to go in life. We’ve all done this, too many times to count.
But that doesn’t mean you should keep doing it. In fact, as we mentioned in this week’s blog, it can be kind of reckless to allow other people to set your direction in life. And that’s what this week’s #ClarityGem is all about …
[hr style=”1″ /]
THIS WEEK, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW:
APPLY IT TO YOUR OWN LIFE:
Experience, age, and wisdom count for a lot. But none of those things mean that anyone, not even the wisest and most experienced of souls, has been exactly where you want to go and knows how to get you there.
When people give you directions, even when it’s coming from a pure intention, they’re projecting their values and fears all over their advice.
You mom might advocate for the Stable Path because she really values security and fears instability. Your best friend might argue for the Reckless Figure-It-Out-As-You-Go Speedway because she’s a free spirit and values adventure. Your boss might urge you on to the Responsible Corporate Leader Ladder because that’s what his dad told him he should do, way back when, and it’s worked out OK for him.
One of those routes might be good for you … or maybe not. You won’t know if you don’t stop and ask yourself, “What path calls to me, without the input of anyone else?”
The more advice you take without consulting how YOU feel, the more clouded you’ll get. #ClarityGems
How are you going to put a muffle on the noise and check in with what direction you’d like to go in? Let us know!
WHAT #CLARITYGEMS ARE ALL ABOUT:
Sometimes it’s just better to avoid long blog posts and cut straight to the point!
Think of #ClarityGems as your weekly shake of the good ‘ole Magic 8 Ball … you never know what might bubble up, and how it might be exactly what you need to hear today.
And instead of just a beautiful, inspirational, and shareable image (which is a nice start), we’re giving you some quick thoughts about how to interpret it … because inspiration without action is pretty, but kind of anti-climatic.
Tweet it, share it on Instagram, or forward it along to someone who needs to hear it today … and tag us (@ClarityonFire) to let us know how this Gem is inspiring you!
Much Love,
Kristen + Rachel
