We have to give our clients, as well as our PPVE enrollees, a lot of credit. If we didn’t get to talk to them every week, we wouldn’t have nearly so many things to write about. They’re constantly sparking new ideas!

The inspiration for this week’s #ClarityGem came straight from an email exchange between Rachel and one of her clients. And to be honest, this is definitely not the first time we’ve heard this …

THIS WEEK, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW:

backtracking

APPLY IT TO YOUR OWN LIFE:

Ignorance really is bliss, isn’t it? Well actually, we don’t really think so … but, it often looks easier to be less self-aware.

It’s hard to be conscious. It means that when things are going badly, you know you can’t really blame your situation on anyone or everything else. You realize that you’ve got to take responsibility for how you feel and how you react to life.

And when that happens, sometimes you can start to feel a little too responsible. You can start to believe that you’re never allowed to have a bad day, or judge someone, or be in a bad mood, or feel existentially exhausted … because if you’re in charge of how you feel, shouldn’t you always feel good?

Well, no. You’re human. Which means you’re going to have bad days and judgmental moments, and you’re going to take your anger out on someone who didn’t deserve it. But that doesn’t mean you’ve slipped or backtracked.

You’re evolving on your bad days, too. In fact, you might just be learning more from them than anything else.

twitter-birdConsider your bad days to be less “backtracking” and more “uncomfortable evolution” #ClarityGems

How have you evolved during your not-so-good days? Let us know!

WHAT #CLARITYGEMS ARE ALL ABOUT:

Sometimes it’s just better to avoid long blog posts and cut straight to the point!

Think of #ClarityGems as your weekly shake of the good ‘ole Magic 8 Ball … you never know what might bubble up and how it might be exactly what you need to hear today.

And instead of just a beautiful, inspirational, and shareable image (which is a nice start), we’re giving you some quick thoughts about how to interpret it … because inspiration without action is pretty, but kind of anti-climatic.

Tweet it, share it on Instagram, or forward it along to someone who needs to hear it today … and tag us (@ClarityonFire) to let us know how this Gem is inspiring you!

Much Love,

Rachel + Kristen

  1. Oh, girls! How I needed this today. You have no idea.
I needed a reminder that it’s absolutely normal to feel overwhelmed and stressed out because I have TOO much on my plate. I have been having so hard on myself for the past two weeks because I can’t reach my optimal productivity level, which has been causing a lot of anxiety and guilt. Your post made me realize that I have been growing and evolving into a better version of myself, even though it’s in a very uncomfortable way.
    Keep up the awesome work!
    Much love,
    Paula

    1. We’re so glad to hear this has helped you out, Paula! And remember … a high quality life is just as much about what you REMOVE as what you add in. Sometimes, we’ve got to do less so that we can receive more.

  2. This one came right on time for me. I’ve been working the PPVE, reading at least 3 different blogs, watching videos, reading books…ACK! I’ve basically just been overwhelming myself with this goal to FIND MY PASSION, DO WHAT I WANT WITH MY LIFE – and it all definitely caught up to me yesterday.

It’s good to be reminded that there is A LOT of growth and change going on in here right now and it’s okay to have a bad day. Phew! Just keep swimming…

  3. Dear Kristen and Rachel,

“If you’re in charge of how you feel, shouldn’t you always feel good?” I love this question and especially on days when I do not feel that awesome. I try to go with feeling my feelings. I like how you say that you have not slipped or backtracked for being human.

    heart Lynne
