We often have people (particularly the ones who’ve never heard of coaching) ask us, “So what do you do? Like, help people set goals and be excited and stuff?”
Ha! Nope, unfortunately (or fortunately, since we like a challenge) it’s not always that upbeat. Being a coach often means telling truths that make people uncomfortable. This week’s #ClarityGem is one of those uncomfortable truths …

THIS WEEK, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW:
APPLY IT TO YOUR OWN LIFE:
Some people have really low-quality problems. As in, they’ve been complaining about the same things for months or years and nothing has changed. They’re stuck in a rut, and they’d rather talk about how much it sucks than examine their part in the problem.
Low-quality problem: “The last 3 jobs I’ve had are awful. I have such bad luck and my bosses are always terrible.”
High-quality problems happen to people whose character doesn’t sit well with stagnation or mediocrity. Because they’re willing to question the status quo and do something when they’re not feeling great, their problems rarely stay the same. In fact, their “problems” become more like challenges or puzzles to solve (as in, they can often be fun).
High-quality problem: “I have 2 job offers from great employers that I’m excited about — how will I choose the right one for me?
Your character is made obvious by the quality of your problems. #ClarityGems
So, what will need to change in order for you to upgrade the quality of your problems (and your character)?
TELL US HOW YOU TOOK ACTION:
Use #ClarityGems on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to share how you’re applying this week’s Gem to your own life, and to see how other people are being inspired.
WHAT #CLARITYGEMS ARE ALL ABOUT:
Sometimes it’s just better to avoid long blog posts and cut straight to the point!
Think of #ClarityGems as your weekly shake of the good ‘ole Magic 8 Ball … you never know what might bubble up, and how it might be exactly what you need to hear today.
And instead of just a beautiful, inspirational, and shareable image (which is a nice start), we’re giving you some quick thoughts about how to apply it to your life … because inspiration without action is pretty, but kind of anti-climatic.
Tweet it, share it on Instagram, or forward it along to someone who needs to hear it today … and tag us (@ClarityonFire) to let us know how this Gem applies to you!
Much Love,
Rachel + Kristen
