There’s nothing worse than a really nice, well-meaning person trying to give you advice.

{Honestly, it’s so much easier to ignore advice when it’s coming from someone you don’t like and who clearly has an agenda.}

Consider this week’s #ClarityGem a big, flashing “Beware!” sign when it comes to taking any kind of advice … even from people who mean well.

THIS WEEK, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW:

advice

APPLY IT TO YOUR OWN LIFE:

Advice is always biased. Regardless of who it comes from, it’s someone else’s idea of what you “should” do, based on their worldview and what they would do in your shoes.

But they’re not you! And taking someone else’s advice (even someone who knows you and means well) can mean acting based on their fears, limiting beliefs, and skewed perceptions … which have nothing to do with you.

That’s why, when it’s time to make a decision about your life, it’s best to act according to what makes the most sense (logically, emotionally, and intuitively) for you. (Which is what coaching helps you do, by the way.)

It takes courage and commitment to act in your own best interests, because ignoring good-hearted advice can feel really vulnerable. And people won’t always “get” why you aren’t listening to them. But, after all …

Whose advice will you stop listening to so that you can start listening to yourself?

TELL US HOW YOU TOOK ACTION:

Use #ClarityGems on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to share how you’re applying this week’s Gem to your own life, and to see how other people are being inspired.

WHAT #CLARITYGEMS ARE ALL ABOUT:

Sometimes it’s just better to avoid long blog posts and cut straight to the point!

Think of #ClarityGems as your weekly shake of the good ‘ole Magic 8 Ball … you never know what might bubble up, and how it might be exactly what you need to hear today.

And instead of just a beautiful, inspirational, and shareable image (which is a nice start), we’re giving you some quick thoughts about how to apply it to your life … because inspiration without action is pretty, but kind of anti-climatic.

Tweet it, share it on Instagram, or forward it along to someone who needs to hear it today … and tag us (@ClarityonFire) to let us know how this Gem applies to you!

Much Love,

Kristen + Rachel
