OMG, Mary! I am so sorry about your brother. My brother was recently in an accident that could’ve easily resulted in the worst and thankfully didn’t. But I think it kicked my ass. My motivation is renewed and my fear is so stupid.I’m so grateful for my job, clients, and coworkers who have been so supportive. I’m grateful I wasn’t without income especially in 2020. But it’s time to buckle down and do something because life is too short not to spend time with family because of work, especially when I’m burned out. ❤️💜

I did have something happen ahead of that time, which was why I felt I needed a ‘good’ accountant. Basically I was given the contact details of a semi-retired accountant from my hometown – she was really nice, but did seem like a bit of a lounge-room operator – like her email address was [email protected] XD
She ended up telling me I would have a $10k tax bill, which freaked me out as that would have wiped my savings – but then my company’s finance manager said that was completely wrong and it would be more like $5K not including any tax deductions I may have for the financial year. So I think that put into my head ‘wow my tax situation must be really complicated, I better find someone with experience in NFP wages, salary sacrificing (which my company offers) etc. – but I really just needed someone who was a current full-time professional accountant – which really wasn’t that hard to find!
Oh Rachel – I’m sending you a BIG hug. I was going to write in this response about the Tower card in the tarot, I often call it a Tower moment and it’s my belief that no one gets through life without experiencing a Tower moment. Another way I like to think of a Tower moment is that when everything crumbles down like that, it strips you of so much gunk and unnecessary crap and all that is left is who you fundamentally are at your core. It’s also I believe, the moments that prove how resilient us human beings really are – we rise again like a Phoenix rising from the ashes and we look back and think, ‘I don’t know how I got through that time – but I did and I’m still here.’ Hang in there Rachel! I know you’ll get through to the other side xo
